Most Christians have a Bible, and many of them treat it like a devotional book. And it is a devotional book; it is the ultimate devotional book. They read their passage, chapter or a few chapters daily for their devotional reading. They are often blessed by a phrase, verse or passage. This is what the Bible does, it blesses people. It is food for the soul. One can read a chapter over and over again and be blessed in many different ways. It is a very deep devotion written by God, but treating it simply as a devotional book is only knowing a very small aspect of it. It is much more than that; it is a book of history—a perfect description of history. A book of truth—the truth about everything and everyone, including God. A book of principles—how life is to function. A book of facts—how things are and how they are to be. A book of doctrine—how redemption is rooted in God and then channeled out by Him and made available to all mankind. It is a book of wisdom

CLICK-Hebrews 4:12 says, “The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerned of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” It properly discerns every function, every issue, and every person throughout his whole being. It is a book of divisions—it covers every division of salvation, of life and of God. CLICK-II Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” One can be blessed by reading it devotional, and every person should, but the challenge is to study it, to come to understand its different parts and how they are a part of the whole. It is not merely a textbook, but it is the ultimate textbook.
